Mechanic Lien Documents
1794 to 1823
Mechanic Liens were recorded in Deed Books A to W2 (1794 - 1823) and names in the liens were indexed in Deed Book Indexes, #1 and #2. See the pages about Deed Books and Deed Book Indexes before 1823 for details on which books were indexed. The Deed Books up to W2 are only available on microfilm at the following locations:
- Recorder’s Office, 138 East Court St., second floor, room 205, downtown Cincinnati
- Cincinnati History Library and Archives, Cincinnati Museum Center, 1301 Western Ave.,scheduled to reopen in 2018.
1823 to 1843
Between 1823 and 1843, mechanic liens were recorded in Mortgage Books #20 to #90. There are no direct indexes to these books. The mortgage Books up to #90 are available on the internet at FamilySearch.org (see directions below) and on microfilm at the following locations:

- Cincinnati History Library and Archives, Cincinnati Museum Center, 1301 Western Ave.,scheduled to reopen in 2018.
1843 to 1847
Mechanic Liens were recorded in Mechanic Lien Book #1 which is indexed at the rear of the book. This book is available on the internet at FamilySearch.org (see directions below) and is available on microfilm at:

1847 to 1903
Mechanic liens were recorded in Mechanic Lien Books #2 to #21. There is no direct index to these books. These books are available on the internet at FamilySearch.org (see directions below) and is available on microfilm at:

1903 to 1988
Liens were recorded in Mechanic Lien Books #22 to #97. Books #22 to #87 are only indexed in the rear of each book. After 1978, leases were recorded in Lien books #88 to #97. There are no indexes for these books. These books are only available on microfilm at the Recorder’s Office.
