1794 to 1848

Powers of Attorney were recorded in Deed Books A to W2 (1794-1823) and Deed Books #21 to #150 (1794-1851). Those deed books are indexed in the Deed Book Indexes #1 to #4. There are Powers of Attorney in Mortgage Books #20 to #149 (1823-1851). There are no indexes for the mortgage books. Beginning 1848, names in Powers of Attorney are found in Power of Attorney Index #1 (1794-1881). Deed and Mortgage books before 1900 are available from the main search page.

1922 to 1988

Powers of Attorney were recorded in Power of Attorney books #12 to #71. Books #12 to #50 are only indexed in the rear of each book. Books #51 to #71 have no index. These books are available on microfilm at the Recorder’s Office.

Powers of Attorney were recorded in regular deed and mortgage books until 1848. After 1848 separate books, Powers of Attorney Books #1 to #5 were used until 1881. See Powers of Attorney index 1794-1881 for that period. From 1881 to 1922, Powers of Attorney books #6 to #11 were used.
