The certificate number is a unique number assigned by the Recorder's Office to identify a certificate of title for a parcel of registered land. New certificate numbers are assigned when ownership of a parcel of registered land changes and a deed is therefore processed by the Recorder's Office. When necessary, new certificate numbers are assigned sequentially on a daily basis.
